Most common disease is polygenic — thousands of small effects rather than one broken gene. A polygenic score summarises that inherited component into a comparable number.
What it covers
- Cardiovascular and lipid-related risk
- Type 2 diabetes and metabolic risk
- Common cancer risk scores, where clinically validated
- Neurodegenerative risk, reported only on explicit request
How it is performed
Analysed from the same sample as your other genetic testing.
How to prepare
No preparation required. Decide beforehand which categories you want reported.
How we read it
As a reason to start prevention earlier and screen more often — not as a prediction. A high score with excellent modifiable markers is a very different clinical picture from the same score with poor ones.
